Bumthang is often called the cultural and religious Centre of Bhutan. Nalakhar Tshechu is a good opportunity to glimpse the unique Tsechu being held in the remote rural village of Nalakhar village in central Bhutan. People from all over the villages come here to witness the festival dressing in their finest clothes. It is held once every year.
A modest celebration held by the Nalakhar community. The small village of Nalakhar is located in the Bumthang district.
The event is held to honor the local deities, express gratitude for a successful harvest, and ask for favors for future seasons that will bring forth even greater harvests.
This three-day celebration is conducted at Ngaa Lhakhang in Nalakhar Village.
The purpose of the event is to bring joy and prosperity to the village and the nation as a whole.

People from all over the villages come here to witness the festival dressing in their finest clothes. It is held once every year. The festival is being celebrated to bring happiness, better harvest, and prosperity to the villages and the country as a whole.
Early in the morning, we will drive our car through the farm road to the road at Nalakhar village. From the road end, we have to walk about 15 minutes to the festival ground of Nalakhar Temple.
After Tsechu, on our way back, we can hike to Tangbi Village through the pine forest. The hike will take about 2 hours.
This is an annual event in which runners compete over a distance of 26.2 miles for the full marathon
