Why Travel Bhutan With Truly Bhutan

Daga Tshechu

Daga Tshechu is an annual event of the Dzongkhag to honor Guru Padmasambhava-“one born from a lotus flower”. The annual Tshechu starts on the 11th day of the eleventh Bhutanese month and concludes on the 15th day of the November month with the unfurling of the Thongdrel Chenmo. It is known for its sacredness and people from other Dzongkhags also attend the Dagana Tshechu to receive blessings from the various sacred relics.

According to the historical texts, the significance of conducting five days of Dagana Tshechu is associated with the five local deities in Dagana (Aum Jomo Dakarmo, Phola Taktshang Gangbur, Shathongtsen, Gophu Kencho, Molha Darayu Tsho).
