Thangbi Mani

Tangbi Lhakhang, Choekhor, BUMTHANG

Thangbi Festival is a lifetime achievement in itself assuring you to give wings to your spirit. It is a traditional display organized very religiously by the residents of the hamlets of Tangbi, Goling, and Kharsath just to bring lots of happiness and prosperity. For that reason, everyone in the community prays for a prosperous harvest to feel blessed. People from different parts of the world come to participate in this rich cultural heritage celebration of Lhakhang to make this event a great success. Despite the fact that frequent changes in social values have somehow affected its sustainability but still, a committee is being formed to coordinate the organization of the festival so that it succeeds to revive its original taste amongst everyone.

Believe us it is no less than a colorful picnic, where the Gomchen (lay monks) of the monastery exhibits vibrant rituals, and young lads and lass wear masks of glorious demonic demons and animals to showcase hypnotizing masked dances and folk items believed to have hidden powers to bless you with unending fortune. However, those amongst the present who jump over aflame three times are supposed to be protected from every impending misfortune at least for a year. Catch every glimpse of this multi-hued traditional demonstration in your camera such as the presence of mimic dancers.
