People visit the festival dressed in their finest clothes and the festival is popular among tourists.

It is one of the 108 temples erected in one day by Songtsen Gampo of Tibet.

The bonfires and masked dances commemorate the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo’s creation of this 7th-century temple.

The Ter Cham, or “fire ritual,” widely known as “the Naked Dance,” is the festival’s highlight.
