Embark on a 10-day cycling journey across Bhutan, a nation revered for its commitment to sustainability and cultural preservation. Known as the last Mahayana Buddhist state, Bhutan is an exclusive travel destination that balances tradition and modernity, offering a unique and enriching experience.

 Across Bhutan Cycling Summary

  • Bhutan’s Exclusive Appeal: Bhutan’s “High Value, Low Impact” tourism policy positions it as one of the most exclusive and authentic travel destinations. Its dedication to environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and maintaining sovereign status sets it apart, making it a role model for carbon neutrality and sustainable tourism.
  • Diverse Climates and Rich Biodiversity: Bhutan’s varied climates, ranging from subtropical to alpine, contribute to its rich flora and fauna. Over 72% of the country is forested, creating a haven for diverse wildlife and making Bhutan one of the Top 10 Global Hot Spots for environmental preservation.
  • Cultural Heritage and Modernization: Bhutan uniquely blends its rich cultural heritage, deeply rooted in Mahayana Buddhism, with modern advancements. The introduction of television and the internet in 1999, and the transition to democracy in 2008, showcase Bhutan’s distinctive approach to embracing modernity while preserving tradition.
  • Cycling Across Varied Terrains: The cycling expedition covers diverse terrains, from the lush valleys of Thimphu and Punakha to the historical town of Trongsa, and the serene landscapes of Gangtey. The journey offers an opportunity to experience Bhutan’s geographical diversity and stunning natural beauty.
  • Exploring Remote Regions: The tour extends to the lesser-known yet equally captivating regions of Mongar, Trashigang, and Wamrong. These areas provide a glimpse into the untouched and authentic side of Bhutan, far from the usual tourist trails.
  • Engaging with Local Communities: Throughout the journey, cyclists will have numerous opportunities to engage with local communities, understanding their way of life, traditions, and the Bhutanese people’s unique outlook on happiness and well-being.
  • Well-Organized and Supportive Tour: The tour includes high-quality cycling equipment, a support vehicle for logistical assistance, and carefully selected accommodation options to ensure comfort and safety throughout the journey.
  • Concluding the Journey: The expedition concludes with a departure from Samdrup Jongkhar, leaving cyclists with a profound understanding of Bhutan’s culture, environment, and its people’s commitment to preserving their unique heritage.

This 10-day cycling tour offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore Bhutan in-depth, providing a blend of physical adventure, cultural immersion, and environmental awareness. It’s an ideal experience for those seeking to discover the true essence of Bhutan, the Last Shangri-La.
