Buli Manmo Tsho is the resident of Buli’s guardian deity, believed to be half woman and lower half snake. Often, visitors are acknowledged by the sight of ducks swimming around and clearing the leaves that fall on the lake. It’s said that the lake has come from Zhongar dzong under Mongar dzongkhag about 30 years ago.
The lake is recognized for its brightness and locals conclude that if its color turns dark and dull, it’s an inauspicious sign. Nangkor Gewog Administration requires a nominal fee for the visitors and the income is spent to perform rituals at the lake and buy offerings to appease the local deity.
Best season to visit Buli Tsho:
- December to August (Lake will be closed to the public from the 1st day of the 8th month to the 15th day of the 10th month of the Bhutanese calendar)
