Yagang Lhakhang

The Yagang Lhakhang is an alone-owned monastery established by Lama Sangdag, the 6th child of Terton Pema Lingpa. It is a 20-minute hike from Mongar town.

The monastery holds one of the strong cultural magnitudes as it is an archive of a comprehensive collection of sacred treasures and many religious objects recognized to have been explored by Terton Pema Lingpa. As Pema Lingpa is the ultimate Bhutanese master and was homegrown, all his activity for the benefit of beings arose here in Bhutan and he is certainly the exemplar of Bhutan. The teachings and spiritual practices are preserved without the deterioration in values and conduct in precise consonance with Peling traditions.

This is the entire monastery that is sustained intact, varied in its true culture and folklore of Buddhism in the east

Corresponding to Trel Da Tshechu celebrating the beginning commemoration of Guru Rinpoche on the 10th of the 5th Bhutanese month, the Yagang monastery introduces the above Tshechu for three days. The Tshechu naked dance related to the festival at Jambay Lhakhang, Bumthang normally continues for three days however because of monetary problems they lessen it to one day.

Before the Mongar dzong was established, the Yagang Tshechu was the entire Tshechu observed annually to mark the annual festival at Mongar.

Ani Choten Zangmo, Pema Lingpa’s granddaughter, who took off from Bumthang to avoid a proposition of wedding from the resident king

Zhongar Dzong in Mongar is distinguishable from the Mongar-Bumthang Highway, a few kilometers from Lingmethang

It is considered that Guru Rinpoche meditated within Phunying mountain rims for a few months while driving away the demon king Khikha-rathoed
