Lunana Village is the Most remote in Gasa District, one could sense the knowledge of the Himalayan nomads living amongst the flow of ice in winter.

Until recently the nomads of the place live from yaks and sheep but a few years back some medicinal herbs especially the harvesting of Yartsa goenbub (Cordyceps Sinensis) have contributed to them a lot, and it’s now their dominant origin of income simultaneously sustaining the nomadic way of life.

Reaching Lunana Village is a challenging trek through the Himalayan Mountains that can take up to 20 days to complete. It requires exceptional fitness and stamina, but offers awe-inspiring views of the Himalayas, pristine forests, and an opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture.

Lunana Village offers numerous activities to enjoy, including trekking, wildlife watching, cultural experiences, and photography. Trekking is a popular activity, with the Snowman Trek being one of the most challenging treks globally. Until recently, the nomads of Lunana Village lived off yaks and sheep, but a few years back the harvesting of Yartsa goenbub (Cordyceps Sinensis), a medicinal herb, became their dominant source of income. It sustains the nomadic way of life while contributing significantly to their livelihoods.

The region surrounding Lunana Village is home to numerous rare and endangered species of wildlife, including the elusive snow leopard, Himalayan blue sheep, and musk deer. Wildlife watching is a popular activity in the area.
